  • What a disappointment - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

My NEW Sport Trac broke down 5 times in the first three months. Once it just died on me as I came onto a freeway. The mechanic first told me that they ran diagnostics on it and, "out side of the fact that it wouldnt start, there was nothing wrong with it." The finally got it running again. It also had a high pitch whine at highway speeds. Ford said it was a chain in the 4WD transfer case and that they knew of the problem but had no fix for it. Ford bought it back from me, thank God.

  • Great little truck - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Bought new with less than 100 miles after my 94 ranger was totalled by a kid running a light. This truck is a beast in the snow. Winter 06 brought 2 major blizzards here with over 2ft of snow each time within 2 weeks. Had to blast through drifts over 4 ft to get to work. No problem at all. That is even with the crap stock goodyear RT/S tires. Tires started "thumping at 10k. Had to replace pads and rotors at 30k. Repair shop said a caliper was frozen on the right front and chewed throught the rotor. Replaced rotors, pads and calipers over $700. Now the breaks constantly squeak. Besides that have not had any mechanical issues what so ever "knock on wood"

  • Great SUV - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I had this Ford since I bought it. I had every intention of keeping it except for an accident that almost could have claimed my life. But due to the good lord and a well built vehicle we survived the accident although the Explorer was totaled. I had nothing but good driving experience with this truck. Very spacious, comfortable, and quiet, and plush. The only drawback that I was working on fixing was the need for at least a 4" lift, and than I believe this SUV would be a very capable 4x4.

  • Fun and Conentional - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Im a college student and several times a year I am in need of a vehicle that can move me from apartment to apartment. Also important to me is a comfortable ride for my 3 large dogs. With the Sport Trac, you have it all. With the tonneau cover you can put anything at all in the bed. Once the seats in the back are folded down, the dogs love standing back there and stichink their heads out the rear power window. This is my first SUV/Truck and I absolutely love it!

  • Love that Sport Trac - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I purchased this vehicle for its versatility. You can seat four comfortable (five in a pinch) and it drives like an SUV. Yet, I still have a bed to get mulch or bring things to the dump. I really enjoy driving it. It was a good replacement for my 94 Ford Ranger

  • Weve now had TWO Sporttracs - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

We leased the first one off the truck at a dealership. Loved it. After two years, we bought one "loaded" and have not had a single complaint. Wife loves the higher view, comfort, and reliability of the unit, expecially the factory road assistance (if she ever needed it!!) We even bought the extended 7 yr. 75,000 warranty, but have not needed any assistance. Weve added custom wind screens - custom painted to match Sporttrac silver.

  • A Good SUV/Truck - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

This has been one of the most comfortable vehicles Ive ever owned. It seems to fit like a glove. He has performed flawlessly and has never had to return to the dealer for anything. It doesnt get quite the mileage I was hoping for, but it is very reliable and stable on the road. Most everyone Ive met has liked it and they comment on how smoothly it rides.

  • A little of everything - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Have driven this vehicle since September after moving to a mountain town with high roads that my car couldnt handle. Survived the winter great with the four by four. This truck loved the snow and clambered through it without difficulty. Had to replace the brakes at 42,000 miles after the previous owner had to replace at 20,000. From what I have read this is a consistent problem. The car creaks and makes weird noises that no vehicle with 50,000 miles should make. I love the back, and have the full cover. My dog travels back there happy as can be and I dont have to worry about his safety (completely enclosed) or dog hair. If he wants to visit all we have to do is lower window.
